Killballyowen Kirche zum Hl. Johannes dem Taeufer / Killballyowen St. John the Baptist's Church

In der Nähe der Ortschaft Cross kommen wir beim Friedhof von Kilballyowen (Cill Bhaile Eoghain - Kirche der Stadt von Johannes) vorbei. Dort steht die Ruine der Kirche zum Hl. Johannes dem Täufer, die im Mittelalter gebaut wurde. Bei Renovierungsarbeiten wurde ein verziertes Taufbecken aus dem späten 15. Jahrhundert gefunden, auf dem der Hl. Johannes dargestellt ist. Es ist heute im Clare Museum in Ennis ausgestellt.

Near the village Cross we pass the cemetery of Kilballyowen (Cill Bhaile Eoghain - church of the town of John). There stands the ruins of St. John the Baptist's Church that was built in the Middle Ages. During renovation works a decorated font from the late 15th century was found that depicts St. John. It is now exhibited in the Clare Museum in Ennis.
