Die Geschichte von Doonmore (Dún Mór - große Festung) Castle gleicht der von Doonbeg Castle: Für die O'Briens erbaut, von den MacMahons erobert, an die O'Briens zurückgegeben, von der Krone gepfändet. Der Hauptunterschied ist, dass es schon im frühen 19. Jahrhundert verfallen war und dass heute dementsprechend wenig vorhanden ist.

The history of Doonmore (Dún Mór - big fort) Castle is similar to the one of Doonbeg Castle: Built for the O'Briens, conquered by the MacMahons, given back to the O'Briens, seized by the crown. The main difference is that it was already ruinous in the early 19th century and therefore even less is left of it today.
