Bei der Besiedlung von Ulster (Plantation of Ulster) seit dem Beginn des 17. Jahrhunderts kamen viele Schotten nach Irland und ließen sich nieder. Sie brachten auch den presbyterianischen Glauben mit und bildeten die größte nicht-katholische Gemeinde in Ulster. 1836 bauten die Presbyterianer eine Kirche in Cavan, die mit neu-gotischen Elementen geschmückt ist. Das Grundstück wurde vom 5. Baron Farnham zur Verfügung gestellt. 1890 wurde die Kirche erweitert und wird noch heute von der presbyterianische Gemeinde verwendet.
During the Plantation of Ulster beginning with the 17th century many Scots came to Ireland and settled down. They brought also the Presbyterian faith with them and made up the largest non-Catholic community in Ulster. In 1836 the Presbyterians built a church in Cavan that is decorated with Gothic-revival elements. The space was donated by the 5th Baron Farnham. In 1890 the church was expanded and is still used by the Presbyterian community to this day.
