Gougane Barra

(2000-07-08)

The lake Gougane Barra (Guagán Barra - the crevice of Barra) is the source of the Lee River. On an isle in the lake St. Finbarr founded a hermitage in the 6th century. The lake and the mountain of the same name are surrounded by a national park (142 hectares) that offers many kilometres of hiking routes within the beautiful woodland. On our tours we cross (until now) the pass twice, and twice it is raining. But that the rain also has a beautiful side, you can see on the index page.
