Das Scullogue Gap durchquert die Blackstairs Mountains (Na Staighrí Dubha) zwischen Kiltealy (Cill Téile) in Co. Wexford und Ballymurphy (Baile Uí Mhurchú) in Co. Carlow. Wir suchen uns einen Parkplatz in einer kleinen Seitenstraße, auch in der Hoffnung den Mount Leinster (Stua Laighean), der mit 795 Metern der höchste Berg der beiden Grafschaften ist, sehen zu können. Zu sehen bekommen wir dann aber den Knockroe, der den Blick auf Mount Leinster verstellt.
Am Parkplatz treffen wir einen Wanderer, der uns erklärt, dass man an schönen Tagen von hier aus über die Irische See bis nach Wales sehen kann.
The Scullogue Gap traverses the Blackstairs Mountains (Na Staighrí Dubha) between Kiltealy (Cill Téile) in Co. Wexford and Ballymurphy (Baile Uí Mhurchú) in Co. Carlow. We find us a parking place along a small road, also in hopes to have a view of Mount Leinster (Stua Laighean), which is the highest mountain of both counties with its 795 metres. But then we get to see the Knockroe mountain that covers the view of Mount Leinster.
On the parking place we meet a hiker, who explains to us that on a clear day it is possible to see from here across the Irish Sea until Wales.
