Four Courts

Das Gebäude der Four Courts (vier Gerichte) wurde Endes des 19. Jahrhunderts errichtet. In ihm waren die vier Gerichte für Chancery, King's Bench, Exchequer und Common Pleas untergebracht. Beim Aufstand im Jahre 1922 wurde Four Courts schwer beschädigt und das darin befindliche Archiv mit all seinen Aufzeichnungen zerstört. Nach der Gründung der Repulik wurde Four Courts wieder aufgebaut (wenn auch nicht mehr in der alten Form) und 1932 eröffnet. Heute halten hier der Supreme Court, der High Court und der Dublin Circuit Court ihre Verhandlungen ab.

The building of the Four Courts was constructed at the end of the 19^th century. It housed the four courts of Chancery, King's Bench, Exchequer and Common Pleas. During the rebellion in 1922 Four Courts was heavily demolished and the archive situated in it with all its records was destroyed. After the foundation of the republic, Four Court was rebuilt (although not in its original form) and reopened in 1932. Today, the Supreme Court, the High Court and the Dublin Circuit Court hold their hearings here.
