Dún Laoghaire

Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts war Dún Laoghaire noch ein einfacher Fischerhafen, bis das große Pier erbaut wurde. Damit stieg der Ort zum wichtigsten Passagier- und Yachthafen, sowie zu einer der besten (und teuersten) Wohngegenden von Dublin auf.

Das Hotel können wir uns aber noch leisten und da uns der D.A.R.T. (Dublin Area Rapid Train) direkt in die Innenstadt bringt ersparen wir uns auch das nervige Autofahren durch die überfüllten Straßen.

At the beginning of the 19^th century Dún Laoghaire was a simple fishing harbour, until the great pier was built. Afterwards the village ascended to the most important passenger and yacht harbour, as well as to one of the finest (and most expensive) residential areas of Dublin.

We still can afford the hotel and as the D.A.R.T. (Dublin Area Rapid Train) takes us directly into the city, we can skip the bugging car drive through the crowded streets.
