Carrickgollogan Dolmen

Südlich von Dublin und nördlich von Enniskerry liegt entlang der R117 ein Naherholungsgebiet mit Wald und Wanderwegen. Am Rande dieses Gebiets, am Hügel Carrickgollogan (Carraig Uallacháin, der Fels von Uallachán), ist ein megalithisches Grab auf der Karte eingezeichnet. Also nicht wie hin. Wir finden endlich die richtige Straße, angeschrieben ist nichts, Parkplatz gibt es auch keinen. Also einfach an einer breiten Stelle Parken und zu Fuß weitergehen. Den Dolmen finden wir dann am Rande eines Feldes. Glücklicherweise gibt es keine Wachkühe und so können wir ihn aus nächste Nähe anschauen. Aber außer den drei Steinen ist nicht mehr viel übriggeblieben.

South of Dublin and north of Enniskerry along the R117 there is a local recreation area with a forest and hiking routes. At the edge of this area, on the hill Carrickgollogan (Carraig Uallacháin, the rock of Uallachán), a Megalithic tomb is marked on the map. Let's get there! We finally find the correct lane, there is no sign and no parking place. So we park the car at the widest spot of the lane and go on searching by foot. We finally find the dolmen at the border of a field. Luck is with us, there is no watch cattle and so we can have a close-up look of the dolmen. But except the three stones nothing else remains.
