Von Leenaun nach Süden erstreckt sich das Tal der Flüsse Joyce und Bealanabrack (Abhainn Bhéal Átha na mBreac), der kurz nach Maum in den Lough Corrib mündet. Der Joyce River gibt der Gegend auch ihren Namen - Joyces Country. Andere Quellen führen den Namen auf Thomas Joyce zurück, der im 14. Jahrhundert in den O'Flaherty Clan einheiratete und dadurch große Ländereien bekam.
Beiderseits neben der Straße erstrecken sich Moorland und immer wieder kleine Flecken mit Bäumen. Und natürlich Schafe, die die trockene Straße dem nassen Sumpf vorziehen.
The valley of the Joyce River and the Bealanabrack River (Abhainn Bhéal Átha na mBreac) stretches from Leenaun to the south, until it flows into the Lough Corrib shortly after Maum. The Joyce River gives its name to the area - Joyces Country. Other sources trace the name back to Thomas Joyce, who married into the O'Flaherty Clan in the 14th century, which got him large estates.
Moorland spreads on both sides of the road, occasionally there is a batch of trees. And of course sheep, who prefer the dry road to the wet bog.
