Clifden (An Cloachán), erst zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts gegründet, ist die wichtigste Stadt im Westen der Connemara und sowohl als Marktstadt als auch als Urlaubsort bei Touristen wie Iren beliebt. Die nur weniger als 1600 Einwohner zählende Stadt wird im Sommer von vielen Gästen besucht.

Clifden (An Cloachán), founded at the beginning of the 19th century, is the most important town in the west of the Connemara and popular equally with tourists and natives as a marketplace and a place for spending one's vacation. The town with less than 1600 inhabitants is crowded by many guests in the summer.
