1829 wurde den Katholiken in Irland durch ein Gesetz die freie Ausübung ihrer Religion wieder erlaubt. Als eine der ersten Kirchen wurde die Kirche zur Hl. Maria in den 1830ern im neugotischen Stil erbaut.

In 1829 a law was enacted that allowed the Catholics of Ireland to freely practice their faith again. As one of the first churches St. Mary's Church was erected in the 1830s in neo-Gothic style.
