Der genaue Tag oder Ort, an dem Arthur Guinness geboren wurde, ist nicht bekannt. Die Stadt Celbridge, wo seine Eltern im Geburtsjahr 1725 wohnten, ist eine der Möglichkeiten. Dr. Arthur Price, für den Arthurs Vater arbeitet, hinterließ Arthur £100. Mit diesem Geld leaste er eine Brauerei in Leixlip. 1759 verlegte Arthur sein Geschäft nach Dublin, wo er beim St. James's Gate eine Brauerei für 9000 Jahre pachtete. Es dauerte dann noch einmal 20 Jahre bis Arthur mit dem dunklen Porter-Bier nicht nur eine bis heute andauernde Weltmarke schuf, sondern auch ein nationales Symbol.

Ihm zu Ehren wurde an der Hauptstraße von Celbridge vor dem ehemaligen Gerichtsgebäude eine Statue errichtet. Die letzte Ruhestätte von Arthur Guinness ist in der Ortschaft Oughterard.

In 1759 Arthur moved his business to Dublin, where he rented a brewery at St. James's Gate for 9000 years. It took another 20 years until Arthur had created the dark porter beer that is not only a still lasting worldwide trademark, but also a national symbol.

To his honour a statue was erected along the main street of Celbridge in front of the former court house. The last resting place of Arthur Guinness is in the town of Oughterard.
