Mit einem Denkmal wird den ersten Opfern des Osteraufstandes 1916 gedacht. Am Karfreitag davor, auf dem Weg zur Funkstation auf Valentia Island kamen vier Freiwillige der Irisch Republikanischen Bruderschaft mit ihrem Auto vom Weg ab und stürzten am Pier von Ballykissane in den Fluss Laune. Charlie Monahan, Con Keating und Donal Sheehan ertranken. Tom McInerney konnte sich ans Ufer retten, wurde aber später von der Polizei verhaftet. Er starb 1922 im Irischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg.

A memorial commemorates the first victims of the Eastern Rising in 1916. On Good Friday before, on their way to the Valentia Island wireless station four volunteers of the Irish Republican Brotherhood lost their way with their car and stumbled into the river Laune at Ballykissane pier. Charlie Monahan, Con Keating and Donal Sheehan drowned. Tom McInerney reached the shore safely, but was later arrested by the police. He died in the Irish War of Independence in 1922.
