Uragh Steinkreis / Uragh Stone Circle

Durch das Tal der Ameen, vorbei an den beiden Cloonee Loughs, kommen wir zu einem Gatter - Weiterfahrt nur für Bewohner gestattet. Aber gegen eine Gebühr von €2 pro Person dürfen wir zu Fuß den letzten Kilometer (oder so) bis zum Steinkreis gehen. Er liegt auf einer kleinen Anhöhe, vor der Kulisse eines Sees (Loch Inchiquin?) und eines Wasserfalls. Mit 2,4 Metern Durchmesser ist er einer der kleinsten Steinkreise, die wir in Irland gesehen haben. Dafür ist der über drei Meter hohe Monolith sehr beeindruckend.
Through the valley of the Amee, past the two Cloonee Loughs, we come to a gate - driving on is only allowed for residents. But for a fee of €2 per person we are allowed to go on by foot for the last kilometre (or so) to the stone circle. It stands on a small rising, in front of the scenery of a lake (Loch Inchiquin?) and a waterfall. With 2.4 metres in diameter it is one of the smallest stone circles we have seen in Ireland. On the other hand the monolith with over three metres in height is most impressing.
