Anker der Crompton / Anchor of the Crompton

Die Crompton war ein viermastiges Segelschiff, das eine Last von 2180 Tonnen befördern konnte. Am 23. November 1910 schlug sie bei Nebel am Dromgower Point gegen einen Felsen und sank. Die elfköpfige Mannschaft konnte sich an Land retten. Einer der beiden Anker der Crompton konnte 1971 geborgen werden und ist in Knightstown ausgestellt. Der zweite Anker wurde 2009 gehoben und ist hier am Hafen zu sehen.
The Crompton was a four-masted sailing barge that could carry a load of 2180 tons. On November 23rd, 1910, due to fog, it hit a rock at Dromgower Point and sank. The crew of eleven managed to get to the shore alive. One of the anchors of the Crompton was salvaged in 1971 and is exhibited in Knightstown. The second anchor was raised in 2009 and can be seen here at the harbour.
