Die älteste Erwähnung einer Kirche in Granard war um 1400. Diese Kirche war zuerst dem Hl. Patrick, aber später der Hl. Maria geweiht. 1611 wird der Zustand der Kirche als "ruinös" beschrieben. Wo sie genau stand, ist heute nicht mehr bekannt.
Die heutige Kirche zur Hl. Maria wurde im neugotischen Stil errichtet und 1867 eingeweiht. Der Glockenturm wurde 20 Jahre später angebaut.
The oldest mentioning of a church in Granard was around 1400. That church was at first dedicated to St. Patrick, but later to St. Mary. In 1611 the state of the church was described as "ruinous". Where exactly it stood is no longer known.
Today's St. Mary's Church was built in Neo-Gothic style and dedicated in 1867. The bell tower was added 20 years later.
