R.K. Kirche zur Hl. Maria / St Mary's R.C. Church

Die R.K. Kirche zur Hl. Maria ersetzte eine kleine Kapelle vom Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts. Das Grundstück wurde vom Grundherren Charles Manners St. George zur Verfügung gestellt, der auch Teile der Kosten übernahm. Die Pläne für die neugotische Kirche stammen von William M. Hague. Der Bau begann 1873, aber 1875 zerstörte ein starker Sturm das Gebäude kurz vor der Fertigstellung. Die Arbeiten wurden jedoch fortgesetzt und die Kirche konnte 1879 eingeweiht werden. Als letzter Teil des Gebäudes wurde 1925 der Turm vervollständigt.

St Mary's R.C. Church replaced a small chapel from the beginning of the 19^th century. The plot was provided by courtesy of the landlord Charles Manners St. George, who also took over a part of the costs. The plans for the Neo-Gothic church were made by William M. Hague. The construction work began in 1873, but in 1875 a strong storm destroyed the building shortly before it was completed. The work was however continued and the church could be dedicated in 1879. In 1925 the tower as the last part of the building was completed.
