Normannische Motte / Norman Motte

Auf einem bewaldeten Hügel sind die Überreste einer normannischen Motte aus dem 12. Jahrhundert zu finden - sagt uns zumindest eine Tafel. Die Motte befindet sich aber auf einem Privatgrundstück und ist gegen neugierige Touristen durch einen elektrischen Zaun gesichert. (Wir nehmen uns nicht Zeit den Besitzer des Grundstücks ausfindig zu machen, der laut Berichten im Internet Besuchern bereitwillig die Tore öffnet.)

On top of a wooded hill there are the remains of a Norman motte from the 12th century - at least that is what a sign claims. The motte lies on private property and is protected against nosy tourists with an electrical fence. (We do not take the time to search for the owner, who according to reports in the Internet willingly opens the gates to visitors.)
