Beltra Lough

(2015-07-15)

Lough Betra (Loch Bhéal Trá) lies in Glen Hest between the mountain range of the Nephin and the mountain where the highest peak is named Croaghmoyle. The R312 runs along its eastern banks, at two parking places there is an access to the lake.

At the parking place in the southern part (upper picture) we find the typical postcard idyll with a lake surrounded by mountains and which little swaying boats.

At the parking place in the northern part (lower picture) the lake however is smooth as glass and the view of the mountains and the clouds is almost surreal.
