Crossmolina

Crossmolina (Crois Uí Mhaoilíona, Kreuz von Mullany) liegt am Fluss Deel, der nur wenig später in den Lough Conn fließt. Da sich hier die beiden Hauptverkehrsstraßen der Gegend kreuzen (die N59 in Ost-West und die R315 in Nord-Süd-Richtung), kommen wir seit unserem ersten Besuch in Mayo oft durch die Stadt, aber immer mit einem anderen Ziel vor Augen. Erst 2015 nehmen wir uns die Zeit, stehen zu bleiben und die Hauptstraße auf und ab zu gehen.

Crossmolina (Crois Uí Mhaoilíona, Cross of Mullany) lies on the Deel River that flows into Lough Conn only a little later. As the two main traffic routes of the area meet here (the N59 in east-west and the R315 in north-south-direction), we often pass through the town since our first visit to Mayo, but always aiming for another destination. In 2015, however, we finally take some time to stop and walk up and down the main street.
