Blacksod Aussichtspunkt / Blacksod Viewpoint

In der Nähe des Hafens Blacksod (An Fód Dubh), ganz an der Südspitze, liegt ein Aussichtspunkt, bei dem ein moderner Steinkreis errichtet wurde (eigentlich ist es eine Spirale). Aber von der Spitze des Hügels aus haben wir einen traumhaften Ausblick, wohin wir uns auch wenden: Im Osten die Blacksod Bay, im Süden Achill Island, im Westen die Inseln im Atlantik, im Norden die Sandstrände der Mullet. Es ist still und friedlich - mit Ausnahme des Windes, der uns fast fort bläst.
Near the harbour Blacksod (An Fód Dubh), at the southern peak, there is a viewpoint at which a modern stone circle has been erected (actually it is a spiral). But from the top of the hill we have a dreamlike view wherever we turn: In the east Blacksod Bay, in the south Achill Island, in the west the isles in the Atlantic Ocean, in the north the sandy strands of the Mullet. It is quiet and peaceful - except the wind, which almost blows us away.
