Der Stadtpark in Tullamore hat für alle Altersgruppen etwas zu bieten: Vom Kinderspielplatz bis zum Friedhof.
Das Gelände im Townland Kilcruttin (Cill Chruitín, die Kirche des Cruitín) wurde 1891 von John Lloyd gekauft und umfasst auch den ältesten Friedhof der Stadt aus dem frühen 18. Jahrhundert. Es ist im Norden durch den Tullamore River begrenzt, durch den es aber auch sehr sumpfig war. In den 1960ern verkaufte die Familie Lloyd das Gelände und es gab mehrere Idee, wie es genutzt werden könnte. Schlussendlich wurde es vom Offaly Grafschaftsrat erworben und nach einer Idee der Junior Chamber Tullamore in den 1980ern in einen Stadtpark umgewandelt. Um 2008 wurde der Stadtpark völlig neu gestaltet und in Erinnerung an John Lloyd umbenannt. Seither wird der Park von der Bevölkerung zur Erholung, für Sport und auch für Freiluftveranstaltungen verwendet.
The town park of Tullamore offers something for all ages: From a children's playground to a cemetery.
The area in the townland Kilcruttin (Cill Chruitín, the church of Cruitín) was bought by John Lloyd in 1891 and encompasses also the oldest graveyard of the town from the early 18th century. It is delimited in the north by the Tullamore River that also made it very boggy. In the 1960ies the family Lloyd sold the area and there were various ideas how it could be used. In the end it was purchased by the Offaly County Council and adapting an idea by the Junior Chamber Tullamore it was converted to a town park in the 1980ies. Around 2008 the town park was completely re-designed and renamed in memory of John Lloyd. Since then the park is used by the community for recreation, sports and also open air events.
