Von 1798 bis 1804 war Tullamore der Endpunkt der Grand Canals, während darüber diskutiert wurde, wie der Kanal weiter verlaufen solle. Daher wurde ein breites Hafenbecken gebaut, das mit großen Warenhäusern umgeben war. Sie wurden aber in den 1940ern abgerissen.
Die Bury Brücke (benannt nach Charles William Bury, Graf von Charleville) wurde 1799 gebaut, um den Treidelpfad neben dem Kanal über die Hafeneinfahrt zu führen.
From 1798 to 1804 Tullamore was the endpoint of the Grand Canal, while the discussions went on how the further course of the canal should be. Therefore a broad harbour basin was built, surrounded with large warehouses. They were however demolished in the 1940ies.
The Bury Bridge (named after Charles William Bury, Earl of Charleville) was built in 1799 to lead the towpath beside the canal over the harbour entrance.
