Termonbarry

(2015-07-13)

When we cross the Shannon at Termonbarry (Tearmann Bearaigh - Sanctuary of St. Barry), we see two interesting bridges. And although it is already late in the afternoon and we still have a long way ahead of us, we cannot help but have a closer look. The first bridge is the one of the N5. A part of the lane can be drawn up when a bigger boat wants to pass. The second bridge is actually a weir across the Shannon. Boats have to use a lock beside it. We then walk around a little, visit the private marina and learn that we had missed the Cloondara Canal during our visit to the Royal Canal years ago.
