Cloonshanville Priorat / Cloonshanville Priory

Das Dominikanerkloster in Cloonshanville (Cluain Seanmhaoil) wurde von 1385 von der Familie MacDermot Roe gegründet, möglicherweise an der Stelle wo zuvor bereits eine Kirche stand. 1577 wurde das Kloster aufgelassen, 1596 wurde es von irischen Rebellen in Brand gesetzt. Daher gibt es vom Kloster nur mehr die Grundmauern, der Glockenturm hat jedoch dem Feuer und den Jahrhunderten getrotzt.
The Dominican friary in Cloonshanville (Cluain Seanmhaoil) was founded in 1385 by the family MacDermot Roe, possible on the location of an earlier church. In 1577 the monastery was dissolved, in 1596 it was burnt by Irish rebels. Therefore only the foundation walls of the monastery remain, the bell tower however defied the fire and the centuries.
