Ein modernes Kunstwerk wird auf der Schautafel so beschrieben: Portal (Radharc Frámaithe) vom Bildhauer Conleth Gent ist ein Fenster-Portal mit geschnitzten Figuren aus lokal gewonnener Mooreiche. Es repräsentiert die Gemeinschaft - Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft - vor dem landschaftlich schönen Hintergrund des Lough Ree. Das eiserne Bulldozer-Kettenrad, von Board Na Móna bereitgestellt, spiegelt das lokale industrielle Erbe wieder.
Board Na Móna (Torfargentur) bewirtschaftete die riesigen Torfgebiete in der Mitte Irlands und war einer der größten Arbeitgeber. Der Torf wurde zum größten Teil in Kraftwerken zur Gewinnung von elektrischem Strom verheizt. Mit dem Umdenken in Richtung erneuerbarer Energien wurden die großen Torfkraftwerke stillgelegt, das letzte davon 2020 in Lanesborough.
A modern piece of art is described on the panel as: Portal (Radharc Frámaithe) by sculptor Conleth Gent is a windowed portal with carved figures made from locally sourced bog oak. It represents the community - past, present, and future - backed by the scenic beauty of Lough Ree. The iron bulldozer sprocket, sourced by the Bord Na Móna, reflects the local industrial heritage.
Board Na Móna (The Peat Board) harvested the vast peat bogs in the middle of Ireland and was one of the biggest employer. The greater part of the peat was burnt in power stations to produce electrical current. Following the change in thinking towards renewable energies the big peat power stations were closed down, the last of them in 2020 in Lanesborough.
