Der Heilige Columbkille ("die Taube der Kirche") - einer der bedeutendsten Kirchengründer der frühchristlichen Zeit - gründete in diesem Tal eine Kirche und seither trägt es seinen Namen: Glencolumbkille - das Tal des Columbkille. Doch schon in früheren Zeiten haben hier Menschen ihre Spuren hinterlassen, an vielen Orten sind noch heute "standing stones" zu finden. (Wer mehr über den Hl. The Saint Columbkill (the "dove of the church") was one of the most important church founders of the early Christian time. He founded a church in this valley, and since then, it is called after him: Glencolumbkille - the valley of Columbkille. But even in former times, human civilisation has left its traces here, many "standing stones" can still be found.
