Der 50 Hektar große Park von Birr Castle wird mit fünf Sternen in der offiziellen Liste der Gärten von besonderem historischem Interesse in der Republik Irland bewertet. Und er hat jeden Stern verdient! Hier ein Blick in die "Formal Gardens". Für Astronomen besonders interessant ist ein Teleskop, dass für drei Viertel eines Jahrhunderte das größte der Welt war.
The park of Birr Castle stretching over 50 hectares is rated with five stars in the official list of Gardens of Outstanding Historic Interest in the Republic of Ireland. And it deserves every single star! Here a look into the "Formal Gardens". Of particular interest for astronomers there is a telescope which was the largest one in the world for over three quarters of a century.
