Rahan Church

Ende des 6. Jahrhundert gründete St. Carthcach in Rahan ein Kloster, das im Laufe der Jahre mehrfach verfiel und wieder neu aufgebaut wurde. Zwei alte Kirchen sind noch als Ruinen übriggeblieben. Beide sollen wunderschöne Verzierungen über Türen und Fenster haben. Leider sind sie (wie wir jetzt schon fast gewöhnt sind) von Rindern bewacht. Da diese Tiere jedoch sichtbar keinen Euter haben, bleiben wir lieber fern.

At the end of the 6th century St. Carthcach founded a monastery in Rahan, which in the course of the years dilapidated and was restored several times. Two old churches remain as ruins. Both are supposed to have wonderful ornaments over doors and windows. Alas, they are (as we are almost used to now) guarded by cattle. As these animals however have no visible udder, we stay away.
