Blackwater Bog

Zwischen Shannonbridge und Bellmount erstreckt sich ein riesiges Moor an beiden Seiten des Flusses Blackwater. In diesem Moor wird Torf abgebaut, der dann zum Erzeugen von Strom in Wärmekraftwerken verwendet wird. Als besondere Attraktion gibt es einen kleine Zug (Lok und ein Anhänger), der eine etwa 9 Kilometer lange Strecke durch das Moor fährt. Between Shannonbridge and Bellmount a large bog spreads along both sides of the river Blackwater. In this bog peat is cut, which is used to generate electricity in thermal power stations. As a special attraction there is a little train (an engine and one wagon), going round a railway through the bog for about 9 kilometres.
