Kells war im Mittelalter eines der großen Zentren des keltischen Christentums. Noch heute sind hier fünf Hochkreuze zu bewundern, im Bild das am Marktplatz, das während der Rebellion 1798 als Galgen benutzt wurde. Kells was during the Middle Age one of the great centres of Celtic Christianity. Even today five crosses can be admired, the one in the picture standing on the market place was used as a gallows during the 1798 rebellion. (Since that picture was taken, the cross has been moved to the east part of the town.) More...
