Dublin City: St. Patrick's Cathedral

Die Kathedrale von St. Patrick's ist die größte Irlands und die nationale Kathedrale aller irischen Protestanten. Sie wurde 1190 anstelle einer im 5. Jahrhundert vom Hl. Patrick erbauten Kirche errichtet.

Jonathan Swift ("Gullivers Reisen") war von 1713 bis 1745 Dekan in St. Patrick's und wurde hier auch beigesetzt. Seine Grabinschrift ist:

"He lies where furious indignation can no longer rend his heart."
(Er liegt, wo wütende Entrüstung sein Herz nicht mehr zerreißen kann)

The cathedral of St. Patrick's is the largest in Ireland and the National Cathedral of all Irish protestants. It was erected in 1190 instead of a church that was build by St. Patrick in the 5^th century.

Jonathan Swift ("Gulliver's Travels") was dean in St. Patrick's from 1713 to 1745 and is also buried here. His epitaph reads:

"He lies where furious indignation can no longer rend his heart."
