Dublin City: Trinity College

Elisabeth I. ließ Trinity College im Jahre 1592 errichten, um sicherzustellen, dass die irischen Protestanten eine entsprechende Ausbildung erhielten. Sie ahnte nicht, dass sie damit auch die geistige Grundlage für die irisch-protestantischen Rebellen schuf. Unter den Studenten finden sich die berühmten Namen von Jonathan Swift, Oscar Wilde, Bram Stoker ("Dracula") und Samuel Beckett.

Die sieben Bibliotheken des Colleges beherbergen über acht Millionen Bücher, darunter auch das berühmte "Book of Kells".

Elisabeth I. had built Trinity College in 1592, to ensure that Irish protestants receive an adequate education. Little did she know, that she also set the spiritual foundation for the Irish-protestant rebels. Among the students the famous names of Jonathan Swift, Oscar Wilde, Bram Stoker ("Dracula") and Samuel Beckett can be found.

The seven libraries of the college hold more than eight million books, among them the famous "Book of Kells".
