Dublin City: Molly Malone

Die wohl berühmteste Frau in Dublin ist Molly Malone. Ob sie je wirklich gelebt hat oder ob sie nur ein Mythos ist, weiß niemand so wirklich - aber als echte Irin hat sie vermutlich von beidem etwas. Das Lied "Cockles and Mussels" hat ihr jedenfalls zur Unsterblichkeit verholfen und so schiebt ihre Statue noch heute ihren Karren durch die Straßen, breite und schmale.

The most famous woman of Dublin is Molly Malone. Whether she really lived or whether she is only a myth nobody knows for sure - but as a genuine Irish woman she probably unites both qualities. Anyhow, the song "Cockles and Mussels" made her immortal and so her statue still wheels the barrow through the streets, broad and narrow.
