Dublin City: Grafton Street

Die Fußgängerzone in der Grafton Street ist Anziehungspunkt vieler Besucher und bekannt für die Kulisse aus reizvollen Häusern aus dem 19. Jahrhundert, vor der Künstler ihre Werke präsentieren. Uns hat am besten gefallen, wie hier für ein Buchgeschäft geworben wird - ein Sinnbild irischer Ruhe und Gelassenheit. (Auf dem Schild steht "Cathach Books, Antiquarian Specialist, Maps, Prints, 10 Duke St.", für alle die sich ihre Augen nicht ruinieren wollen).
Zwölf Jahre später ist auch dieser Job wegrationalisiert worden. Dafür versuchen viele Straßenakrobaten die Leute gegen ein kleines Trinkgeld zu unterhalten.

Als alter Comicfan sei es Markus erlaubt ein Gebäude besonders hervorzuheben.

The pedestrian precinct in Grafton Street is an attraction for many visitors and well-known for its scenery of charming houses from the 19th century, and the artists who show the results or their work. We especially liked the way they advertise for a bookshop - what a symbol of Irish leisureliness and imperturbability. (The sign says "Cathach Books, Antiquarian Specialist, Maps, Prints, 10 Duke St.", for all those who don't want to strain their eyes.)
Twelve years later this job fell victim to economy. Instead a lot of street acrobats try to entertain the people for a small tip.
