Dublin City: North Bull Island

Da sind sie ja! Ein mehrere Kilometer langer flacher Sandstrand lockt die Dubliner bei schönem Wetter an. Der einzige Unterschied zum Strandleben in Südeuropa ist, dass sich nur wenige Leute im Wasser tummeln. Wir gehen auch nicht ins Wasser (wer nimmt schon Badekleidung bei einem Irlandurlaub mit?) sondern lieber am Strand entlang, bis wir dann etwa in der Hälfte der Insel über die zweite Zufahrtsstraße wieder das Festland erreichen. Wir kommen dabei an Salzmarschen vorbei und können einige große Vögel (Reiher) bei der Futtersuche beobachten.

Here they are! A flat sandy beach going on for miles allure the Dubliners whenever the weather is hot. The main difference to any beach scene in south Europe is that only a few people are splashing around in the sea. We do not enter the water, either (who would think of taking bathing clothes on a trip to Ireland?), but walk along the beach until we reach the second access street near the middle of the island that takes us back to the main land. We pass the salt marches and can watch some big birds (herons) looking for food.
