Die Stadt Bantry ist der ideale Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge
auf die Beara Halbinsel, auf die südlichste der Halbinseln zum Mizen Head oder auch ins
Landesinnere zum Gougane Barra Nationalpark. Der neugestaltete Hauptplatz direkt am Hafen
bietet eine für Irische Kleinstädte ungewohnt hohe Anzahl an Parkplätzen und alle
wichtigen Restaurants sind in nur wenigen Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen. Die Statue zeigt
den Hl. Brendan, der als erster Europäer nach Amerika gesegelt sein soll.

Barra national park. The newly restored main square direct beside the harbour offers a for
Irish towns unusual high amount of car parks and all important restaurants are reachable
by foot within a few minutes. The statue shows St. Brandan, who is reported to be the
first European sailing to America.
