Mizen Head

Mizen Head ist die äußerte Spitze der südlichsten der fünf Halbinseln. Eigentlich liegt es schon auf einer Insel, die über eine Brücke mit dem Festland verbunden ist. Nur ein schmaler Pfad führt vom Parkplatz über diese Brücke zum Leuchtfeuer. Hier bläst uns der Wind so stark entgegen, dass uns fast der Atem wegbleibt. Im Haus neben dem Leuchtfeuer wurde ein kleines Museum eingerichtet, das über den Bau der Anlage Auskunft gibt - die "Mizen Vision". Ein Blick auf die Klippen beim Mizen Head.

Mizen Head is the utmost tip of the most southward one of the five peninsulas. Actually, it is on an isle, which is connected to the mainland by a bridge. Only a narrow path leads from the car park across this bridge to the beacon light. Here the wind is blowing so hard, that we are almost breathless. In the house beside the beacon a small museum was established, which tells us about the building of the signal station - the "Mizen Vision". A look at the cliffs of Mizen Head.
