Old Head of Kinsale

Die Landzunge, die vor dem Hafen ins Meer ragt, ist heute ein Golfplatz. Aber auch hier hat sich Geschichte abgespielt: 1915 wurde hier das Passagierschiff Lusitania von einem deutschen U-Boot versenkt. Uns ärgert aber mehr, dass wir nicht zum Leuchtturm gehen können, weil das Areal nur für Golfer zugänglich ist.

This spit of land right before the harbour of Kinsale is today occupied by a golf course. But here, history also strikes: in the year 1915, a German U-boat sank the liner Lusitania. But we are more annoyed because the area is only accessible for golfers and we cannot walk to the light house.
