Grand Canal

In Athy ist das Ende des Kanal, er mündet in die Barrow. Schleuse Nr.28 ist knapp 46 Kilometer von der Verzweigung in Robertstown entfernt. Von hier gehen wir am Kanal entlang bis zur Schleuse Nr.27, die neben der Brücke ist, bei der die Hauptstraße den Kanal kreuzt. Hier steht das Grand Canal House, das aussieht als ob es schon bessere Zeiten erlebt hätte.

In Athy is the end of the canal, it flows into the River Barrow. Lock no.28 is almost 46 kilometers away from the branching in Robertstown. From here we walk along the canal to lock no.27, which is beside the bridge where the main street is crossing the canal. Here is the Grand Canal House that looks as if it had lived through better times.
