Auf diesem Friedhof neben der Kirche des Hl. Columban liegt das Grab des Dichters William Butler Yeats (1865 - 1939), der in der Gegend um Sligo einen Teil seiner Jugend verbrachte und von der Landschaft nachhaltig beeinflusst wurde. Sein Grabstein trägt eine von ihm selbst verfasste Inschrift (siehe das Gedicht Under Ben Bulben):
Cast a cold Eye
On Life, on Death.
Horseman pass by!
(Wirf einen kalten Blick auf das Leben, den Tod. Reiter, zieh' vorbei.)
On the cemetery beside St. Columba's Church there is the grave of the poet William Butler Yeats (1865 - 1939), who spent a large part of his youth in the area around Sligo and was lastingly impressed by the landscape. His gravestone bears an inscription that was written by himself (see the poem Under Ben Bulben):
