Bei der Ortschaft Lavagh sind die Knocknashee Megalithic Tombs angeschrieben, also biegen wir von der N17 ab. Aber recht typisch für Dolmen in Irland fehlt plötzlich jeder Hinweis wo genau die Dolmen nun sind. Laut Straßenkarte auf dem Hügel neben dem Dorf, aber wir umkreisen den Hügel einmal und finden keinen weiteren Hinweis, ja nicht einmal einen Weg auf den Hügel hinaus. Schade. Als Ersatzprogramm schauen wir uns die Ruinen von Court Abbey, einem Franziskanerkloster aus dem 15. Jahrhundert, an. (Später erfahren wir aus dem Internet, dass wir "Gillighan’s World" hätten besuchen müssen, um Zugang auf den Hügel zu bekommen.)
Near the village of Lavagh we see a sign to the Knocknashee Megalithic Tombs, therefore we leave the N17. But rather typical for dolmen in Ireland, suddenly every hint to where these dolmens exactly are is gone. According to the street map on a hill beside the village, but we drive around the hill and find no further hint, not even a way up the hill. What a pity. As surrogate programme we visit the ruins of Court Abbey, a Franciscan friary from the 15th century. (Later we learn from the Internet that we should have visited "Gillighan’s World" to get access to the hill.)
