1307 belehnte Edward II. Henry Dillon mit dem Landgut in Kilkenny-West. Die Familie Dillon errichtete darauf ein Turmhaus, das sie für die nächsten Jahrhunderte bewohnte. Ab dem 17. Jahrhundert durften sich die Dillons (zumindest die Männer) "Grafen von Roscommon" nennen. 1850 verstarb aber der letzte Graf ohne Nachfahren, der Titel erlosch. Zu dieser Zeit dürfte auch das Turmhaus aufgegeben worden sein, weil 1910 wird es bereits als verfallen beschrieben.
In 1307 Edward II. granted the manor of Kilkenny-West to Henry Dillon. The family Dillon erected a tower house where they lived for the next couple of centuries. Since the 17th century the Dillons (at least the men) were entitled to call themselves "Earls of Roscommon". In 1850 the last earl deceased without an heir and the title became extinct. At this time presumably also the tower house was abandond, as in 1910 it is already reported as decayed.
