Anchoreten Zelle / Anchorite's Cell

Die ehemalige Anchoreten Zelle war Teil des Benediktiner Klosters, ist aber möglicherweise schon älter als diese. Im 15. Jahrhundert wurde an ihrer Stelle das zweistöckige Turmhaus gebaut, das bis 1616 ebenfalls als Einsiedelei verwendet wurde. 1567 pachtete Christopher Nugent Fore. Die Familie Nugent nutze das Gebäude ab 1680 als Mausoleum. Im 19. Jahrhundert ließ Lady Rosa Greville (1814-1883, geborene Nugent) das Mausoluem in Stil einer kleinen Kapelle erweitern.
Wunder #1: Anchoret in einem Stein (Anchorite in a stone). Gemeint ist vermutlich Patrick Beglan, der letzte Anchoret in Fore, der 1616 starb.
The former anchorite's cell was part of the Benedictine monastery, but may be even older than that. In the 15th century a two-story tower house was built in its place, that was also used as hermitage until 1616. In 1567 Christopher Nugent leased Fore. The family Nugent used the building since 1680 as a mausoleum. In the 19th century Lady Rosa Greville (1814-1883, nee Nugent) had the mausoleum extended in the style of a small chapel.
Wonder #1: Anchorite in a stone. The mentioned anchorite is most likely Patrick Beglan, the last anchorite in Fore, who died in 1616.
