Altes Gefaengnis / Old Gaol

Ein Dokument aus 1540 erwähnt ein Gefängnis in Fore. Die Bauweise der noch vorhandenen Ruine weist Ähnlichkeiten mit den Stadttoren auf, die im 15. Jahrhundert gebaut wurden. Es ist also möglich, dass die Ruine das 1540 erwähnte Gefängnis ist, der letztendlich gültige Beweis fehlt aber. Das Gefängnis war bis ins 18. Jahrhundert in Verwendung, möglicherweise sogar noch länger. Auf den Landkarten von 1910 ist das Gefängnis bereits als "verfallen" beschrieben. Der noch vorhandene Rest eines Stiegenaufgangs legt nahe, dass das Gebäude früher noch ein zweites Geschoß hatte.
A document from 1510 mentions a prison in Fore. The style of construction of the still remaining ruin has similarities to the town gates that were built in the 15th century. So it is possible that the ruin is the prison mentioned in 1540, however the finally validating proof is missing. The gaol was in use until the 18th century, maybe even longer. On a map from 1910 the gaol is already described as "in ruins". The still existing staircase suggests that the building formerly had a second floor.
