Killafree Kirche zum Hl. Michael / Killafree St. Michael's Church

Ein Stein in der Ruine der alten Kirche zum Hl. Michael gibt 1679 als Erbauungsdatum an. Es ist aber möglich, dass für das Gebäude Teile einer mittelalterlichen Kirche wiederverwendet wurden. Unter der Kirche befindet sich die Gruft der Familie Pollard. 1820 war die Kirche zu klein für die Gemeinschaft geworden und so wurde beschlossen, eine neue St. Michaels Kirche am Hauptplatz zu errichten. Diese wurde 1827 eingeweiht, die alte Kirche aufgegeben und sie verfiel.
A stone of the old ruin of the old St. Michael's Church states 1679 as construction date. But it is possible that the building incorporates parts of a medieval church. Below the church there is the tomb of the family Pollard. In 1820 the church had become too small for the community and it was decided to build the new St. Michael's Church at the town square. That was consecrated in 1827, the old church was abandoned and decayed.
