Kirche der Himmelfahrt / Church of the Assumption

1850 beschloß der Gemeindepfarrer, Pater James Roche, nicht nur eine, sondern zeitgleich zwei Kirchen bauen zu lassen - die Kirche der Unbefleckten Empfängnis und die Kirche der Himmelfahrt. Als Architekt wurde Richard Pierce beautftragt. Die Kosten von £54,000 wurden von Pater Roche über Spenden aufgebracht, an denen sich auch nicht-Katholiken beteiligten. 1858 konnten die Kirchen feierlich eingeweiht werden. Da beide Kirche fast identisch sind, werden sie auch als "die Zwillingskirchen" genannt.
In 1850 the then parish priest Father James Roche deciced to have not only one church built, but two at the same time - the Church of Immaculate Conception and the Church of the Assumption. Richard Pierce was commissioned as the architect. The cost of £54,000 was raised by Fr. Roche by collecting donations, to which not only Catholics contributed. The churches were ceremonially dedicated in 1858. As both churches as almost identical, they are also called "the Twin Churches".
