Slade Burg / Slade Castle

Die Burg von Slade (An Slaod, der Streifen) wurde im 15. Jahrhundert von der normannischen Familie Laffan als Turmhaus erbaut. Im 16. Jahrhundert wurde das Turmhaus um zusätzliche Anbauten erweitert. Während der Rebellion 1641 verlor die Familie Laffan ihren Besitz, die Burg wurde als Lager für Salz und später als Wohnhaus verwendet. Seit den 1940ern gehört sie dem Office of Public Works und wurde in ursprünglicher Form restauriert.
Slade (An Slaod, the swath) Castle was built by the Norman family Laffan in the 15th century as a towerhouse. In the 16th century it was expanded by additional annexes. During the rebellion in 1641 the Laffan family lost their property, the castle was then used as storage for salt and even later as residential building. Since the 1940s it belongs to the Office of Public Works and was restored to its original form.
