Garten der Erinnerung / Memorial Garden

2001 wurde in Kilmore Quay der "Garten der Erinnerung" eröffnet. Er soll die Erfahrung des Verlusts und den Weg zur Gesundung für die Hinterbliebenen der vielen Opfer von Schiffsunglücken entlang der Küste darstellen. Das Denkmal ist in der Form eines Schiffes erbaut, in Steintafeln beim Mast sind die Namen der Verunglückten eingraviert. Eine Status stellt ein Paar da, das mit Sorge, aber doch hoffnungsvoll auf das offene Meer hinausblickt.
In 2001 the "Memorial Garden" was opened in Kilmore Quay. Its intent is to reflect the experience of loss and the way to recovery for the bereaved of the many victims of shipwrecks along the coast. The memorial is shaped like a ship, on stone slabs at the mast the names of the casualties are engraved. The status depicts a pair looking out to the open sea with sorrow, but still full of hope.
