Nornenbrunnen / Three Fates Fountain

Während des zweiten Weltkriegs war Irland offiziell neutral. Obwohl sich einige Iren sicher darüber freuten, dass die Engländer von den Deutschen eines auf den Deckel bekamen - wenn auch nur für kurze Zeit. In den Jahren nach dem Krieg lud das Irische Rote Kreuz mit der Operation Shamrock Kinder aus dem kriegsverwüsteten Deutschland auf die Grüne Insel ein, wo sie einige Wochen verbringen durften.
1956 bedankte sich Deutschland mit dem Denkmal Triúr Bandéithe na Cinniúna, dass die drei Schicksalsfrauen der Germanischen Mythologie, die Nornen, darstellt, wie sie am Urdbrunnen den Faden des Schicksals spinnen. Von vorne nach hinten: Urd, Skuld und Werdandi.
During the Second World War Ireland was officially neutral. Although there surely was the one or the other Irish man or woman who liked to see the Germans handing the British a dressing-down - if only for a short time. In the years after the war the Irish Red Cross started Operation Shamrock where children from the war-torn Germany were invited to the Emerald Isle to stay for several weeks.
In 1956 Germany gave thanks with the monument Triúr Bandéithe na Cinniúna that depicts the Three Women of Fate from German mythology, the Norns, as they are sitting at the Urd well and spinning the thread of fate. From front to back: Urd, Skuld und Werdandi.
